Job Description:
The Special Operations Brigade (SOB) G3 Trainer/Mentor shall train operational planning processes and procedures. They will implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of personnel to execute Special Operations across Afghanistan. Design and administer programs to train all levels of personnel assigned to the G3 section. Develop tests and visual aids. Coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, and develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Keep abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training.
• Monitor training and actively assists or provide direction as needed.
o Creating, maintaining and delivering to the TL & SPM all required reports.
o Provide to the TL & DPM all required data/information for monthly performance review and training reports.

Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.

Responsibilities:
Shall be responsible for training using Afghan National Army Special Operations Command (ANASOC) procedures. Will report to the Team Leader, as well as the Deputy Program Manager.Responsible for regularly interacting with US military personnel.May be responsible for making on the scene decisions to execute the Train, Advise, Assist and Mentor (TAAM) mission.Along with their local site managers, Trainer/Mentors will be responsible for assessing how well the SOB Staff are grasping technical advice and assistance.The G3 Trainer/Mentor shall train the following tasks:Trainer/Mentor will mentor the SOB and subordinate organizations in various locations on the establishment of operational policies while developing plans and estimates including training of forward-located Mission Command Packages. Responsibilities: The G3 Trainer will primarily Train, Advise, Assist and Mentor (TAAM) the SOB G3 in areas including but not limited to, the following: operational planning, adjacent and supporting unit coordination, assisting the Chief of Staff with synchronizing the staff to support operations, integration with conventional force operations. The G3 Trainer/Mentor will also provide presentations, assessments, and reports as required by US military leadership in support of SOB operations.The G3 Trainer/Mentor will review and provide input into MoD decrees as processes, procedures, and the operational requirements evolve.The G3 Trainer/Mentor will be required to contribute regularly to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards to integrate Afghan Special Operations Forces (ASOF).The G3 Trainer/Mentor has an expeditionary role and may perform Expeditionary Train, Advise and Assist (ETAA) missions to support SOB.
Required Qualifications:Former E9/O4 or higher with military occupational specialty 18 series or equivalent.Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in operational planning at the Special Force Battalion or Group or service equivalent. Competent with operating Personal Computer skills and Microsoft OfficeExcellent Leadership, Organizational and Project Mgmt SkillsMust possess a US Passport with at least 6 months remaining eligibilityMust be able to obtain a Visa for Afghanistan Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain.Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas.Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location.Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards.Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day. Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs. Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders. Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions. May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment. May be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region. Contractor personnel shall comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders. All tours are unaccompanied
Security Clearance Requirement: Must have an active/current SECRET security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:Prefer SOB/SOK G3 Trainer with previous assignments in Armor, Infantry and/or Special Operations units, as well as experience at the Brigade/Battalion level or equivalent.Prefer previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers.12 months experience in Afghanistan preferred.Previous experience as an Observer/Controller Trainer for G3 functions at a Combat Training Center.Required Education:Bachelor's degree from accredited school & four (4) years of related experience, OR two (2) years related experience with Master's degree.
